Course Design

Integrating OER content into a course design requires using the same basic best practices for creating any learning environment. The first focus in the process always starts with the learning outcomes or objectives. OER are selected, integrated, and used in a course in ways that best serve the learning outcomes and the needs of the students.
The graphic above outlines the basic steps involved with designing a course using open educational resources. The OER being used in the course may be ones found in the public domain, or OER that is used unaltered, or resources that have been customized/edited/remixed to fit specific needs.
